![]() ![]() There's a new series of videos showing players how to power slide and use weapons. There's also a few new options to ease players into the Crash Team Racing experience. (All 15 characters are available, and players can unlock the original game's boss Nitros Oxide.) With the new additions, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled offers a total of 31 tracks in a single package. For Beenox, it was about making the Nitro Kart levels work within the confines of Crash Team Racing's mechanics. The size and width of each track were also adjusted. This meant cuts to some tracks and the removal of anti-gravity sections-Crash Nitro Kart had anti-grav racing long before Mario Kart 8. Where we're going, we won't need anti-gravity. We wanted to complement the original CTR material by readapting the CNK tracks a little bit more," said Wilson. A typical lap for could be 30-40 seconds, and some of the tracks on CNK were all the way to six minutes. We readapted the length of some of the tracks. ![]() ![]() And developer Beenox has put in the work to make every one shine. Not only do you get all the Crash Team Racing courses, with whole new looks and remastered soundtracks, you also get redone courses from Crash Nitro Kart. If you pay attention, you'll see barrels of wumpa juice being crushed with the clock tower's gears. Clockwork Wumpa was previously a basic clock tower, but with Nitro-Fueled, it's now an entire wumpa juice factory. There's even a rave going on, with a polar bear DJ and penguin dancers: as you pass by, the soundtrack for the course is remixed to be more dance-themed briefly. Beenox has filled out the originally sparse background with huts, polar bear families, and campfires. In Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, it's now a fishing village for polar bears. Polar Pass was a simple ice track based around a massive glacier. Little details here and there to make every track unique," said Beenox creative director Thomas Wilson. Everywhere we could inject personality, that's one thing we did. "We spent a great deal of time finding the story of every track. And as you race through each course, if you pay attention you'll notice tiny stories playing out across each lap. Where the new Nitro-Fueled really excels, though, is the additional work Beenox has put into remastering and remaking all of the original tracks. And while the Nintendo Switch already plays host to the excellent Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Crash Team Racing also spreads the love to Xbox One and PlayStation 4. If you're a veteran of the genre, you'll power slide right into CTR I didn't fully get the timing of slide boosting until my demo was finished, but I'd like to think I didn't embarrass USG too much. Then, you need to keep an eye on the boost bar in the bottom right of the screen.īefore it fills up, you need to press the other drift button (whichever one you’re not holding of the two shoulder buttons), with you getting more boost by pressing it closer to the end of the bar. After a few rounds with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, I can say it's largely the same game that occupies the hazy space in your childhood memories. To get the boost, you need to keep hold of the button you’ve used to activate the drift. You then need to press either R1 or L1 if you’re playing on PlayStation 4 (RB or LB if you’re on Xbox One) to hop as you turn back into the corner, which will start the drift. It might mean turning away from a corner at first, but you’ll be able to swing the car back around to the right direction. In Crash Team Racing, you first need to turn sharply as you’re about go into a corner. You need to do more than just hop and turn until you go faster. Getting a boost by drifting isn’t a simple as it is in Mario Kart. What You Need to Do to Drift Around Corners in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled So that you can start the Adventure Mode winning, here’s everything you need to know about how to drift in Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. Another key part of the kart racing genre is drifting to go faster. Challenging the likes of Mario Kart and Team Sonic Racing, it has all the power-ups and crazy tracks you’d expect.
